Author: Winter, P.L.; Wordell, T.A.
Source: Fire Management Today 69(4): 27-32
Description: Wildfires remain a considerable threat to natural resources, firefighters, and human communities across the United States. To those involved in fire management, decision support tools that address wildland fire threats in a coordinated fashion and proactive approaches that transcend agency boundaries to facilitate coordinated responses to wildland fire incidents are of significant value. Predictive Services (PS) produces and provides access to these resources. PS units act as centers of expertise to produce short- and long-range integrated planning and decision tools, enabling proactive resource allocation and safe, cost-effective fire management.
