Title: Phase I: Climate change and connectivity: Assessing landscape and species vulnerability

Author: Cushman, Samuel A.; Landguth, Erin L.; Flather, Curtis

Date: 2010

Description: This project is addressing some of the most important emerging conservation issues in the American Great Plains region by studying the interaction of climate change and human development on habitat for native wildlife species. We are integrating the most current understandings of expected future change in vegetation and land use patterns across the Great Plains, and using state-of-the-art spatial analysis and modeling approaches to predict effects of these changes on habitat area, fragmentation and corridor network connectivity. Our products provide practical, detailed and specific management recommendations at scales relevant to population viability for a selected set of focal species.
