Description: People in the outdoor recreation business have long held certain inalienable and self-evident truths - recreation resources serve basic needs, the public needs to be professionally guided for "sound" recreational choice, nature is fundamentally good and all people can be trained to absorb that goodness and so on. Yet, of all these truisms, the most myopic is the faith that outdoor recreation is above politics.
