Description: Regeneration and productivity of aspen cannot be sustained on rotations shorter than about 8 years. Productivity losses on short rotations are physiological and morphological rather than nutritional in nature. Stump and root collar sprouts, which are rare in mature stands, were more numerous than root suckers.
