Title: Nebraska's forest resources in 2002.

Description: Results of the 2002 annual inventory of Nebraska show an estimated 1,346.5 thousand acres of forest land in the State. The estimated total volume of all live trees on forest land is 1.9 billion cubic feet. An estimated 1,297.4 thousand acres of forest land are classified as timberland. The estimate of growing-stock volume on timberland is 1.6 billion cubic feet. All live aboveground tree biomass on timberland is estimated at 43.3 million dry tons. Forest health concerns include a high population of engraver beetle in pine stands in north central and western Nebraska, and pine wilt and pinewood nematode in the southeastern part of the State.
