Title: Wood fuel plentiful in West Virginia

Author: Sarles, Raymond L.;

Date: 1979

Source: Research Note NE-279. Broomall, PA: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Northeastern Forest Experiment Station. 4 p.

Publication Series: Research Note (RN)

Description: Biomass estimators applied to West Virginia timber resource data indicate that 34 million tons of wood is potentially available for fuel each year. This tonnage is the annual forest growth in excess of that now harvested for roundwood products. One-half of this excess can supply more than all of the State's energy needs in the residential and commercial sectors, or 44 percent in the industrial sector.
