Description: In 1988, Southern Pulpwood production exceeded 62 million cords, roundwood production increased 1 percent to 41.4 million cords, and wood residue production decreased 3 percent to 20.7 million cords. The pulping capacity of the 106 Southern pulpmills was 126,567 tons per day. Two pulpmills were under construction in the South.
