Description: Nearly 483 million cubic feet of industrial roundwood products were harvested from Florida's forests during 1989, approximately 3 million cubic feet more than in 1987. Pulpwood accounted for 61 percent and saw logs 29 percent of the total roundwood production. Output of byproducts dropped from 170 million cubic feet in 1987 to 161 million cubic feet in 1989. Only 266,000 cubic feet of residues, less than 1 percent of the total produced, were not used. A total of 127 primary wood-using plants operated in the State during 1989. Mill receipts of more than 540 million cubic feet exceeded drain from the State's forests by 12 percent in 1989. The State was a net importer of industrial roundwood.

Keywords: saw logs, pulpwood, veneer logs, mill residues
