Description: Southern pulpwood production increased 3 percent in 1977 to 48.9 million cords. Roundwood production increased slightly while use of plant byproducts rose 9 percent. The use of plant byproducts continues to increase and now contributes 34 percent of the total. Pulping capacity increased to 100,894 tons per day.
