Description: This is a report on the potential of young even-aged hardwood stands, based on measurements made when the stands were 7 years old. It was designed to provide forest managers with data that can aid them in deciding whether or not to do early cultural work. As a basis for this appraisal, we determined for the stands: (1) the number, size, and distribution of stems; (2) the species composition; (3) the stem quality; and (4) the effect of early cultural treatments.
