Description: Ground plots examined between 1965 and 1975 were recoded to reflect current ownership of forest resources in southeast Alaska. Of 6.3 million acres of timberland in southeast Alaska, 5.6 million acres are federally "owned," 200,000 acres are owned by the State, 409,000 acres are owned by private corporations, and the remaining 59,000 acres are owned by various "other" owners. Figures for State and private corporation owners reflect increases, the federally "owned" amount represents a decrease, and the "other" owner figure shows essentially no change.
