Description: A summary of component trends in the forest of lower Mississippi River Valley suggests bottomland hardwood acreage is declining by 190 acres per day and is shifting toward maturity in species and stand structure. Private landowners continue to control the remaining forests, despite recent acquisition by public agencies.
