Title: From defective hardwood stand to multiple use opportunity

Author: McGee, Charles E.;

Date: 1972

Source: Journal of Forestry: 700-704

Publication Series: Miscellaneous Publication

Description: A 40-year old clearcutting, originally made as an example of destructive logging, now supports one of the best mixed hardwood stands on the Bent Creek Experimental Forest. Such desirable intolerants as yellow-poplar provide potential for timber; some high- and low-quality oaks provide timber and wildlife values; and the entire young stand has a pleasing appearance.
