Title: Epicormic branching on pruned white fir

Author: Cosens, Richard D.;

Date: 1952

Source: Journal of Forestry. 50(12): 939-940

Publication Series: Scientific Journal (JRNL)

Description: Epicormic branches have developed on white fir (Abies concolor) one to two years after part of the live limbs were removed in a pruning experiment. The appearance of an average of six epicormic sprouts per tree raises some doubt as to the desirability of planting this species.
