Description: This is a summary of the 25-year history of studies of mammal and bird vectors of lodgepole pine dwarf mistletoe (Arceuthobium americanum), ethephon control of dwarf mistletoe, and the ecology of the most important dwarf mistletoe vector, the gray jay (Persisoreus canadensis), on the USDA Forest Service, Fraser Experimental Forest (FEF) in Colorado. This paper is dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. Frank Hawksworth who was a plant pathologist and international authority on dwarf mistletoes at the Rocky Mountain Research Station who inspired this study.
