Description: This report supplements a slide-tape presentation of the same title. Part I of the report describes the current practice of nitrogen fertilization of Douglas-fir forests in western Washington and Oregon and the effects of this fertilization on tree growth and water quality. Part II discusses factors that affect costs and revenues from investments in forest fertilization. The appended tables, figures, and work sheet enable the user to prepare a break-even economic analysis for fertilization projects. This information should be useful in selecting stands for fertilization and in preparing Environmental Assessment Reports.
