Title: Design and Analysis for Detection Monitoring of Forest Health

Description: An analysis procedure is proposed for the sample design of the Forest Health Monitoring Program (FHM) in the United States. The procedure is intended to provide increased sensitivity to localized but potentially important changes in forest health by explicitly accounting for the spatial relationships between plots in the FHM design. After a series of median sweeps along axes of interest, the effect vectors and residual matrices are analyzed both statically and are carried through time to facilitate testing of postulated changes in forest health. A preIiminaryexample is given utilizing FHM data from New England for a single time period.
