Description: Trees at USDA Forest Service, Southern Forest Inventory and Analysis, sample locations are classified as growing stock or cull based on their ability to produce sawlogs. The old and new classification systems are compared, and the impacts of the new system on the reporting of tree volumes are illustrated with inventory data from north Alabama.
