Title: Aboveground Biomass of Choctawhatchee Sand Pine in Northwest Florida

Description: Choctawhatchee sand pine trees 4 to 14 inches d.b.h. were selected from a natural, uneven-aged stand in northwest Florida to determine the weight and volume of above ground biomass. On the average, 85 percent of the green weight of the total tree was wood, 11 percent bark. and 4 percent needles. The average tree sampled had 82 percent of its wood in the stem and 18 percent in the crown. Specific gravity, moisture content, and green weight per cubic foot are presented for the total tree and its components. Tables developed from regression equations predict weight and cubic-foot volume of the total tree and its components by d.b.h. and total height classes.
