Description: Between 1964 and 1974, forest area in Louisiana declined 9 percent to 14.5 million acres. Softwood volume increased 31 percent to 9 billion cubic feet, and hardwood declined 7 percent to 7.7 billion. All softwood size classes had increases in volume, and all hardwood size classes had decreases.
