Title: Ecoregional management in southern Costa Rica: Finding a role for adaptive collaborative management

Author: Schelhas, John; Buck, Louise E.; Geisler, Charles C.; Wollenberg, Eva eds.;

Date: 2001

Source: Biological Diversity: Balancing Interests Through ACM (2001):245-259

Publication Series: Miscellaneous Publication

Description: Recent thinking in conservation biology stresses the importance of conservation at a regional scale that includes both protected areas and the lands that surround and connect them (Schelhas and Greenberg. 1996; Laurance and Bierregaard. 1997; Soulé dnd Terborgh. 1999) . The need to develop governance systems that can incorporate the full diversity of landholders and interest groups that have decision-making power or an interest in regional land management is implicit in these.
